On February 12th Dan Rasure announced that TheShop.build San Francisco will be the first TheShop.build to open. This has been in the works since TechShop closed on November 15th, 2017. In the coming days and weeks we hope to announce more shop openings.
One of our first priorities will be to make sure all tools and equipment are safe and within normal operating condition. We will also begin tracking usage to make sure we have the right amount of equipment available. Our goal is to support our members by ensuring we have the proper amount of tools and equipment to meet member demand.
We also have a lot planned for our website, but for now it is a work in progress. Below are some of those ideas but for now please explore our new website. Sign up for a membership or newsletter, take a virtual tour, or look at the many projects TheShop.build members have created.
You will be able to see and update the information about your membership including your upcoming classes, machine reservations and authorizations. All of this is designed to make your interactions with TheShop.build faster and easier to maintain.
Instead of calling every time you want to make a reservation you will be able to make them with our online tool. They will still have to be approved before they take effect and there will still be time limits but you will be able to make your requests in an online calendar.
In addition to Dan's blog we have added blogs for each shop as well. Here what is happening in the various shops and stay to date on the latest changes and plans
You may have already seen the Member Projects page, we will be adding a Member Profile page where we plan on highlighting some of our members projects and businesses. Also, remember to sign up to our forums where you can communicate with other members to get ideas and insights on various projects.
We all have dreams about building something. It may be a one of a kind table or a 1/8 scale working steam locomotive. Some of you dream of building a new business.
Don't know how to take your dream from a plan in your head to a plan on paper? We can help with that. We have classes on how to use the latest design software.
Do you need to learn to use the machines to build your dream? We can help you with that as well.
Sign up for one of our many classes today.
Now that you have the dream and the know how, use the tools to turn that dream into reality.
We have large wood, machine, and metal shops at your disposal. You can use our 3D printers and laser cutters. Our fabric arts area has everything you need to make custom T-shirts or an Quilt to pass down to your grandchildren.
